Azure is a soon-to-arrive killer in Forsaken who appears built around map control, pressure, and stacking debuffs. Based on public playtest footage, his kit centers on Atropa, plant-style traps, a grab, and a powerful golem form that changes how he patrols the map.

Because Azure is still in testing, some details may change before release. If you want the safest approach, check his abilities in-game after each update and expect balance changes.

Azure overview

Azure’s current playtest kit suggests a killer that rewards area denial and survivor tracking. He can pressure multiple parts of the map at once, punish sprinting or ability use near his plants, and convert Atropa stacks into extra damage.

Here’s a quick summary of the current public playtest information:

FeatureWhat it seems to do
PassiveApplies Atropa from certain abilities
Atropa capUp to 6 stacks
Base M1 damage22
Plant pressurePeashooters and larger grab plants
Grab attackCan throw survivors for damage
Golem formFaster, stronger, and unstunnable
Golem durationAbout 25 seconds in playtests

Azure’s Atropa passive

Atropa is Azure’s main debuff. Certain abilities apply it for 30 seconds, and it can stack up to six times.

The key thing to understand is that Atropa increases the damage of Azure’s M1 attacks. When he hits a survivor with Atropa stacks, each stack adds extra damage for that hit. After the damage is applied, the stacks are removed.

Why Atropa matters

Atropa changes how safe it is to trade hits or stay near Azure’s pressure tools. Even if you survive the first contact, a few stacks can make follow-up hits much more dangerous.

Azure’s base form abilities

Azure’s standard form appears to focus on controlling routes, forcing movement mistakes, and catching survivors who get too comfortable.

Peashooter plant

This smaller plant can be placed on the ground or on walls. It has decent range and shoots projectiles that appear to travel indefinitely. Its fire rate is roughly 0.75 seconds per shot in the footage.

What it seems to do:

  • Shoots survivors who trigger it
  • Deals 4 damage per hit
  • Applies one Atropa stack per hit
  • Reacts to sound-based movement cues

Players testing the kit suggest that walking near it may avoid detection, while sprinting or using abilities can trigger it.

Large grab plant

Azure also has a larger plant with a wider detection area. If a survivor gets caught, the plant tries to hold them and deals 12 damage.

What it seems to do:

  • Grabs survivors who enter its area
  • Applies 3 Atropa stacks on hit
  • Can force survivors to spend stamina or wait to escape
  • May have a limit of about 3 active plants

A survivor can reportedly dodge it with good movement, putting it on cooldown for around 10 seconds. If Azure lands a hit on a grabbed survivor, it frees them and grants brief speed as compensation.

Purple grab

Azure’s third base ability appears to be a grab attack. He shines purple headlights, slows himself down, and can catch a survivor if they are in range.

If he successfully grabs someone, he can throw them. In the playtest footage, the throw seems to deal 15 damage when the survivor crashes into something. It may also hit other survivors if they are in the way.

Azure’s golem form

Azure’s golem form is where his kit becomes much more threatening. In the playtest footage, he seems to build toward this form over time, similar to a transformation-based killer style.

During golem form:

  • Azure moves much faster
  • He has less stamina
  • He is completely unstunnable
  • His pressure becomes harder to interrupt

Golem M1

The golem’s M1 deals 26 damage before Atropa bonuses. Like Azure’s base M1, it deals extra damage for each Atropa stack on the target, then removes those stacks after the hit.

Base damage26
With max Atropa seen in footage32

Golem ability 1: debris spikes

This move looks like a ground slam that creates debris in an area. It deals 15 damage and ragdolls survivors.

It also appears to:

  • Heavily slow survivors who try to pass through it
  • Control corridors and choke points
  • Make rescue routes riskier

Golem ability 2: slam

Azure’s second golem ability is a larger-area slam that deals about 7 damage in the footage and ragdolls survivors.

This move seems useful for:

  • Catching grouped survivors
  • Punishing predictable movement
  • Forcing survivors off objectives or safe paths

Azure form swapping and map control

One of the most interesting parts of Azure’s playtest kit is the way the golem and base form seem to separate positions. In the footage, when Azure exits golem form, the golem remains in place, and Azure returns to his own location. When he exits Azure’s form, he appears to return to the golem’s location.

That means Azure may be able to manage two pressure points at once, which makes his map control especially dangerous.

Why this matters

If the final version keeps this structure, Azure may be able to:

  • Lock down different sections of the map
  • Force survivors to guess which side is safer
  • Create delayed pressure while rotating elsewhere
  • Punish teams that cluster too tightly

How to counter Azure

Azure’s kit looks strongest when survivors move loudly, group carelessly, or panic near his planted pressure tools. The best counterplay in the playtest discussion focused on survivors who can avoid detection or reduce burst damage.

Best survivor types against Azure

Survivor typeWhy it helps
Undetectable usersCan slip past plants more safely
Damage-negation usersCan survive burst combos better
Body blockersCan intercept grabs or hits
Healing supportHelps recover from chip damage

Suggested survivor picks

Based on the playtest discussion, two survivors stood out as especially useful.

Noob

Noob appears valuable because of:

  • Undetectable options through clone or ghost burger-style effects
  • Slay skin for reducing the impact of big damage combos
  • Safer play while disarming or avoiding traps

Noob’s strengths line up well against Azure’s plant zones, especially when you need to move through danger without triggering every piece of map pressure.

007

007 may also be a strong option because:

  • It may be able to body block grabs
  • It can help protect teammates from plant pressure
  • A clone can potentially block peashooter shots if placed well

If Azure relies on catching a target with layered pressure, 007’s defensive utility may help the team escape the worst of it.

Other survivors to consider

Not every survivor seems equally strong into Azure.

SurvivorMatchup notes
SentinelCan stun in some situations, but Azure’s golem form is unstunnable
VeronicaMobility helps, but she lacks undetectable and damage negation
Build-A-ManBuildings may be pressured by Azure’s plants
ElliotStill useful for healing
DusicarCan help reduce damage from combo situations
TaffMines may create a punish window if a plant catches someone

Practical tips for playing against Azure

If you run into Azure in a match, focus on reducing his ability to snowball.

Tips to keep in mind

  • Avoid sprinting near suspicious plant placement if possible
  • Watch for sound-triggered detection zones
  • Save stamina for escaping grab plants or slams
  • Don’t bunch up around choke points
  • Use healing and damage reduction early if your team can support it
  • Be extra careful when Azure enters golem form

What players should watch for after release

Since Azure is still in playtesting, the final version may not match the footage exactly. Players should check:

  • Final damage values
  • Whether the plant limit changes
  • How long Atropa lasts in release
  • How golem form is earned and canceled
  • Whether any abilities get reworked for fairness

FAQ

Is Azure officially released in Forsaken yet?

Azure is shown in public playtest footage, but details may still change before release. Check the game itself for the latest version.

What is Atropa in Azure’s kit?

Atropa is Azure’s stacking debuff. His abilities apply it, and his M1 attacks deal extra damage based on the stacks.

What is Azure’s strongest form?

His golem form looks like the strongest part of the kit in the footage because it moves faster, cannot be stunned, and has higher damage pressure.

Which survivors seem best against Azure?

Noob and 007 were the strongest suggested counters in the playtest discussion because they can help with undetectable movement, damage reduction, and body blocking.
